Basically, the Junior Research Fellows (JRF) are the creme de la creme of all those who qualify the NET exams, which constitutes only about 10-15% of the total qualifiers. The JRFs are entitled to some special benefits that separate them from normal NET qualifiers, such as exemption from written tests while applying for an M.Phil program, acceptance into Ph. D programs in exclusive universities, entitlement to a monthly stipend of 25000-30000 INR, etc.
